Beginning a new chapter in my life , I set out on a journey to fulfill some of my goals and dreams. For years I wanted to own a barbershop, one that I could create to reach a community. One that would be a pillar to reaching the youth and one that would encompass family. Then one day I got confirmation that a location that I looked at before was now available. Wondering how I would gather the resources to fulfill this dream, I risked it. Item by item I had to purchase and a construction crew came in time to ensure completion date. I doubted just a little if it all would work out, after all I'm not a barber. My desire to create an atmosphere and a foundation where more than one of my goals will have a starting point was my focus. And not being a barber wasn't an important factor to hinder my dream. It's like planting a tree. Trees are planted and used for many purposes; shade, beauty and some bear fruit. So I planted my tree, where I can reach a community by starting reading programs for kids in my shop, start a foundation of brotherhood and give grooming sessions to the youth. I wanted to create an atmosphere where mothers and fathers will feel comfortable enough to bring their son's for haircuts and start the beginning facets of young men taking pride in grooming. Met with many challenges that I did not let deter me, I continued to push forward in making my vision reality. I continue to explore more community building ideas to keep this tree nourished.
